Gundogan Breaks Silence on Transfer Rumors as City Teammate Echoes His Stance

İlkay Gündoğan has dismissed speculation suggesting he is considering departing from Manchester City, despite reports linking him with a potential move to Turkish champions Galatasaray.
The midfielder made his return to Manchester last summer following just one campaign at Barcelona, with his contract automatically extended until the conclusion of the 2025–26 season based on his appearance count.
Weekend reports claimed that Gündoğan, who has Turkish heritage and maintains strong ties to the nation, had reached an agreement with Galatasaray, with Manchester City reportedly willing to facilitate a transfer—possibly without a fee.
However, while not entirely dismissing the possibility of joining another team, Gündoğan has publicly emphasized his contentment at the Etihad Stadium.
"My contract runs for another year and I'm extremely content here—everyone is aware of this," he stated. "I'm thoroughly enjoying my football. I remain confident that I have multiple years ahead of me competing at the elite level through proper self-care.
"Last season demonstrated this when I maintained perfect availability. I'm ready, I'm in good shape, and I'm determined to compete at the top level for an extended period."
John Stones Keen to Stay

City's defender John Stones has clearly expressed his intention to remain with the club.
Stones managed just six Premier League starts during the 2024–25 campaign and, with his contract entering its final year, questions about the 31-year-old's future have intensified.
"I'm committed to this club, I want to remain here, I cherish being part of it. I'm here to support the team, and regardless of what has been reported or rumored, I hope this clarifies my position," the central defender stated.
"Being sidelined through injury is challenging, as you often end up working harder and longer, so from that perspective I understand the squad has endured a mentally and physically demanding season, though for me personally it's been tough managing the injuries and recovery process.
"I've moved past that now and will treat [the Club World Cup] as a gradual reintroduction ahead of the upcoming season, another potential trophy for us to secure, and an opportunity to gain valuable playing time."
