Haaland Breaks Silence With Blunt Response After Alarming Man City Injury Scare

Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca shared that Erling Haaland gave a brief but encouraging update on his condition after limping off the pitch in obvious pain during Saturday's victory over Ipswich Town. The No. 9 was reportedly "O.K."

Haaland is performing far better than just "O.K." despite the ongoing chaos surrounding Manchester City. The consistently lethal Norwegian striker bagged yet another brace against Ipswich, bringing his remarkable tally to 12 goals in his last eight outings for the club. As Maresca joked earlier this campaign: "How do you say in English? Happy wife, happy life? For us, happy Erling, happy life."

Despite netting twice more and helping secure another three points this weekend, Haaland appeared visibly frustrated at the Etihad Stadium.

What Happened to Erling Haaland?

City were clinging to a 3–2 advantage over their newly promoted opponents deep into stoppage time when the Tractor Boys pushed hard for a leveler. Under that pressure, Haaland launched a late counter-attack to seal the game and complete what would have been a hat-trick.

Haaland's first touch strayed just enough to invite Jack Clarke to challenge for the loose ball. The Ipswich substitute came in with his studs raised, making contact with the ball and creating a dangerous collision that Haaland ran into.

The forward still had just over a minute to hobble around the pitch, pleading for the final whistle before storming furiously down the tunnel the moment it sounded.

Man City's Five Injury Concerns

Fortunately for Haaland, Manchester City, and virtually every Fantasy Premier League manager out there, the injury does not appear to be serious. "Erling said he was O.K. so hopefully it is nothing serious," Maresca confirmed. However, the City manager did add: "The one we need to wait on is Antoine."

Antoine Semenyo was among five City players who seemed to pick up some kind of knock during the closing stages of Saturday's bruising encounter. The winger was only brought on in the 77th minute yet still couldn't escape the match without concern.

Mateo Kovačić, Nico O'Reilly, and Matheus Nunes were all substituted off with various complaints. Maresca downplayed the issues for Kovačić and Nunes but cautioned that O'Reilly was still dealing with a lingering back problem.

The grueling fixture schedule leaves little room for recuperation. City welcome Greek side AEK Athens in the Champions League on Tuesday before heading to Aston Villa for Saturday's early kickoff. With a demanding double-header against a red-hot Brighton & Hove Albion looming at the end of October, Maresca may use the upcoming midweek fixture as a chance to make good on his pledge to give Haaland a rest.
