Haaland Fires Brutal Two-Word Dig at Man Utd Following Leeds Defeat

Erling Haaland fired a playful two-word message on social media following Manchester United's painful defeat to fierce rivals Leeds United on Monday evening.

Michael Carrick suffered his first home defeat since taking charge as interim manager as the 10-man Red Devils fell to a contentious 2–1 result, a scoreline that damaged United's Champions League qualification hopes while simultaneously lifting Leeds' relegation survival prospects within a single 90-minute contest.

Manchester City striker Haaland seized the moment to take a dig at his rivals after the final whistle, sharing a photo of Leeds goalscorer Noah Okafor on his Instagram story with the caption "Get in."

Naturally, the Norwegian international also holds a deep connection to Leeds — the city where he was born and the former club of his father Alf-Inge Haaland for three seasons before his move to Manchester City. The 25-year-old has previously held back from celebrating when netting against Leeds out of his "respect for the club."

"When I was young I had a Leeds shirt with Eirik Bakke on the back and a City kit with my dad's name," Haaland disclosed back in December 2022.

Carrick vented his frustration at the officials after Monday's defeat, with a number of key decisions going against the Red Devils at crucial moments.

United believed a foul should have been given in the build-up to Okafor's fifth-minute opener for a wayward arm from Dominic Calvert-Lewin on Leny Yoro, while the subsequent red card shown to Lisandro Martínez for pulling Calvert-Lewin's hair was widely viewed as excessive.

"That decision was one of the worst I've ever witnessed," Carrick raged. "[Calvert-Lewin] can throw his arms into Licha's face — and then he gets sent off. Absolutely shocking."

"I don't even know what it looks like. It's not a pull, it's not a tug, it's not aggressive. He barely touches it and he's sent off. Worst of all, it goes to review and it's deemed a clear and obvious error. Shocking. He is off balance and grappling."

"We have to be mindful of where the game is heading. It is a shocking decision, absolutely shocking."
