Manchester City are aiming to keep their flawless record under Enzo Maresca intact when they travel to rivals Manchester United in Sunday's marquee Premier League clash.
The Cityzens have claimed victory in all four competitive matches under the Italian, despite some unconvincing displays, with last weekend's tight win over newly promoted Coventry City followed by a composed 2–0 victory away at Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Last season's Carabao Cup and FA Cup holders are still adapting to life under Maresca, who faces some tricky selection calls ahead of the trip to Old Trafford. City's remarkable squad depth inevitably presents the manager with a number of dilemmas.
Here's how they could line up for the Manchester derby.
Man City Predicted Lineup vs. Man City
GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma—Despite departing the Estádio do Dragão without being called into action, his showing at Porto was far from convincing. The Italian is no stranger to costly mistakes and has been culpable on the biggest stages before.
RB: Matheus Nunes—Few right backs in the Premier League match Nunes for consistency, and he will need to be fully switched on against either Marcus Rashford or Matheus Cunha, who pose different yet equally threatening dangers.
CB: Rúben Dias—United have netted nine times across their last two home outings, and their potent attacking unit will ensure the seasoned Dias remains fully focused this weekend.
CB: Marc Guéhi—This derby will be a maiden experience for Guéhi, assuming Maresca opts not to shuffle his center back pairing. The Englishman has posted consecutive clean sheets heading into the fixture.
LB: Joško Gvardiol—Nico O'Reilly has returned to fitness and is pushing for Gvardiol's spot at left back, but the Croatian should hold onto his starting place following a promising opening to the season.
CM: Elliot Anderson—United were extremely eager to bring Anderson into their sweeping summer overhaul, but the England international opted for a switch to City instead.
CM: Enzo Fernández—Fernández's record against United is modest at best, having won just two of seven encounters during his time at Chelsea. Could derby day be the occasion he opens his City account?
RW: Phil Foden—Foden is still searching for his best form after two below-par seasons, but he thrives in this fixture and should edge out competition from Ndiaye for a starting role. He has found the net seven times in 17 meetings with the Red Devils.
AM: Rayan Cherki—One of City's standout performers this term, Cherki tends to reserve his most dazzling displays for the biggest stages. Expect the Frenchman to light up Old Trafford.
LW: Antoine Semenyo—With Jérémy Doku on the sidelines, Semenyo has a clear path into the starting eleven once more. The Ghana international had a difficult outing in Portugal midweek, but he seldom struggles in back-to-back games.
ST: Erling Haaland—Haaland can etch his name into City history as the club's all-time leading scorer in this fixture with a hat trick at Old Trafford, while a more attainable brace would draw him level with Joe Hayes and Francis Lee on 10 goals. Even a single strike would see him equal Sergio Agüero's tally.
