The 37-year-old Lewandowski has remained among football's elite scorers for nearly 15 years, capturing numerous titles with Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, including a treble triumph in 2024–25. However, inevitable discussions have emerged regarding Lewandowski's longevity at elite level, particularly with his deal expiring next summer.
Spanish media speculation linked Guirassy with a €100 million ($116.7 million) move to Barcelona, though such a transfer appears challenging considering the club's ongoing Camp Nou renovation costs alongside the necessity to improve and extend deals for key players like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
Preparing for the post-Lewandowski era has Barcelona monitoring several promising strikers throughout Europe who could potentially arrive at the club in coming windows.
German outlet BILD has verified that Guirassy receives high praise from Flick, following his exceptional performances for Dortmund since arriving from VfB Stuttgart. Flick naturally understands the Bundesliga from his Bayern tenure, while his team experienced Guirassy's hat-trick heroics during the 2024–25 Champions League quarterfinals.
Guirassy subsequently concluded the tournament level with Raphinha as the Champions League's leading scorer with 13 strikes, significantly enhancing his market value.
Four strikes in four Bundesliga matches during 2025–26 demonstrate that Guirassy maintains his scoring hunger this campaign, though it seems not all parties align with Flick's assessment.
The Joan Laporta Problem
Despite Flick's strong endorsement of pursuing Guirassy, Barcelona president Joan Laporta doesn't share the same enthusiasm.
BILD's coverage indicates conflicting views regarding Guirassy, with president Laporta, who seeks re-election for a consecutive second term and third overall during June 2026 elections, preferring to investigate other more prestigious options to strengthen his electoral prospects—provided the club's financial situation permits.
