Harry Kane Demolishes Chelsea as Bayern Munich Crushes Blues 3-1 in Champions League Thriller

Chelsea's return to Champions League action after a year-long absence resulted in disappointment as Bayern Munich convincingly beat the Blues 3–1 at their home fortress, the Allianz Arena.

Following an opening phase where both sides created threatening chances, the German giants broke the deadlock on the 20-minute mark. Michael Olise dribbled past João Pedro before delivering a fierce low ball across the box that Tosin Adarabioyo failed to deal with, as it deflected off Trevoh Chalobah's leg and found the net.

The visitors appeared rattled after falling behind, and their situation deteriorated further when Moisés Caicedo fouled Harry Kane in the penalty area, giving the official an easy decision to award a spot-kick. Kane confidently converted the penalty to extend Bayern's advantage in the 27th minute.

Just 120 seconds later, as Chelsea seemed headed for total meltdown, Cole Palmer emerged as their savior. During a lightning-fast breakaway, Palmer drove forward with pace following a neat exchange with Malo Gusto. He unleashed a strike beyond Manuel Neuer to cap off an excellent move and restore hope for Chelsea.

The hosts controlled the opening stages of the second period, though Robert Sánchez demonstrated his shot-stopping abilities to frustrate Bayern. However, the German side's superiority finally paid dividends with their third strike. Gusto committed a terrible error in possession, gifting Kane an easy opportunity to complete his double with a composed finish.

Enzo Maresca's team appeared completely outclassed after the interval, failing to manufacture clear-cut chances to mount a comeback. Bayern controlled the tempo and seemed content to cruise through the remainder with the result secured.

In the closing stages, Palmer appeared to have netted his second and Chelsea's equalizer following excellent work from Andrey Santos, but the Video Assistant Referee ruled the effort out for an offside infringement.

The match highlighted Chelsea's weaknesses, particularly at the back, demonstrating that significant improvements are needed before the Blues can be viewed as genuine Champions League challengers.
