Harry Kane's Jaw-Dropping New Salary Stacks Up Against Haaland and Mbappe

Harry Kane's Jaw-Dropping New Salary Stacks Up Against Haaland and Mbappe

It's been a remarkable couple of weeks for Harry Kane. After becoming the first English player to claim the Ballon d'Or in a quarter of a century, he went on to put pen to paper on a lucrative contract extension with Bayern Munich.

The 33-year-old, who netted an incredible 61 goals at club level last season, has agreed to new terms that will keep him in Bavaria until 2029, putting to rest any rumors of a potential move to Spain or a return to England.

Negotiating from a position of great strength on the back of his extraordinary goalscoring exploits and his remarkable Ballon d'Or victory, Kane has secured a substantial pay increase. According to The Athletic, he is now the highest-earning player in Bayern's storied history.

The forward's salary reflects his standing among the planet's elite players, but how does his wage stack up against fellow superstars like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé?

How Much Is Kane's New Contract Worth?

The Athletic's report indicates that Kane is now the top-earning player in Europe—though this only accounts for his base salary.

No precise figures were disclosed, but the Daily Mail claims that England's all-time leading scorer is now paid $535,000 per week, which reportedly surpasses what any other player on the continent earns before bonuses or additional incentives.

Detailed data on player contract values is hard to come by, but Capology offers a comprehensive breakdown of wages across global soccer.

According to their records, Kane is currently earning a base salary of $609,000 per week, rising to $762,000 when bonuses are factored in. Even so, that still falls behind the figures commanded by Manchester City's Haaland and Real Madrid pair Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior—the latter having signed a bumper contract extension over the summer.

Viní Jr. reportedly takes home a total of $1.08 million every seven days, which is just below Haaland's $1.16 million per week. Mbappé earns even more, with his weekly wages sitting at $1.54 million.

The most eye-catching contracts remain with those currently playing in Saudi Arabia, with Cristiano Ronaldo's earnings towering above all other soccer players. At Al Nassr, he pulls in $5.41 million per week, amounting to a staggering $281 million annually—though his current deal runs out next summer.

Senegal internationals Sadio Mané ($1.08 million) and Kalidou Koulibaly ($934,000), at Al Nassr and Al Hilal respectively, also out-earn Kane by a considerable margin.

'Extremely Happy'—Kane Had No Doubts Over Bayern Extension

While the financial rewards of committing to Bayern for the next two-and-a-half years will certainly have played a role, it is Kane's desire for more major honors and personal milestones that truly drove his decision.

"I'm extremely happy, but as always, I want to be competing for the best trophies, the biggest trophies, I want to be playing for a team that's challenging for the top honors," Kane said enthusiastically. "And that's exactly where I feel I am right now. We have an amazing team, great coach, great staff, everyone pushing in the right direction. So for me, it was not much thought into it."

Despite loose connections to Barcelona or an unlikely Premier League return, Kane made clear he had long been convinced that the Allianz Arena was the ideal place to continue his career.

"We signed the contract yesterday, but to be honest, the decision was pretty much made quite a long time ago," the veteran added. "We didn't want to talk too much during the World Cup. We wanted to focus on that, but from when we come back and started discussions with everyone here, I knew I was going to sign."
