Barcelona enter the final stretch of their La Liga title defense, but with only six matches left to play, they'll need to navigate their way to glory without the services of Lamine Yamal.
Yamal has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign after suffering a hamstring injury during the midweek 1–0 victory over Celta Vigo. His composed penalty to seal all three points proved to be the gifted teenager's final contribution of the club season.
Fortunately for Barcelona, they are enticingly close to clinching the league crown, particularly after Real Madrid dropped points for the third time in their last four league outings. A win over Getafe would hand Hansi Flick's squad an 11-point cushion at the top with just five fixtures to go.
That said, winning away at Getafe has been a near-impossible feat for Barcelona this decade, and the challenge becomes significantly more daunting without Yamal in the fold.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that the Catalans have shown resilience whenever Yamal has been absent from the lineup this season.
Barcelona's Record Without Lamine Yamal in 2025–26

Competition | Rival | Result |
|---|---|---|
La Liga | Valencia | 6–0 (W) |
Champions League | Newcastle | 2–1 (W) |
La Liga | Getafe | 3–0 (W) |
La Liga | Real Oviedo | 3–1 (W) |
La Liga | Sevilla | 4–1 (L) |
Champions League | Slavia Prague | 4–2 (W) |
Barcelona have performed remarkably well this season in the absence of their No. 10, claiming victory in five of the six matches Yamal has sat out this campaign.
A persistent groin problem kept Yamal sidelined for five matches between September and October, yet Flick's team largely got the job done without their talisman.
Barcelona thrashed Valencia and Getafe—their upcoming opponents—at the Estadi Johan Cruyff without Yamal in their opening two home fixtures of the season. Nestled between those results was an impressive 2–1 away triumph against Newcastle United in their Champions League debut.
Road victories against Real Oviedo and Slavia Prague were also secured without the 19-year-old featuring on the pitch.
In 2024–25, however, Barça managed just two wins from five games without Yamal, suffering the same number of defeats and picking up one draw.
The sole loss Barcelona suffered this term without Yamal was a humbling 4–1 defeat to Sevilla just before the October international break. A particular set of circumstances contributed to that result and, unfortunately for the Catalans, that same combination will arise once again for the first time since, on Saturday against Getafe.
Barcelona Forced to Deliver Without Raphinha, Yamal

The heavy defeat against Sevilla in October remains the only match this season in which Barcelona have been deprived of both Yamal and fellow star winger Raphinha simultaneously.
In fact, a 4–0 Copa del Rey round of 32 victory over lower-league outfit UD Barbastro in 2024–25 is the only other occasion since the start of the Flick era that Barça have been without the prolific pair.
Saturday's clash against Getafe will represent the third time Barcelona have had to cope with both notable absences across the past two seasons. Yet even with both players available, the Catalans have failed to secure a win away at José Bordalás's stubborn side in the last two campaigns.
Flick must get his team selection spot on this Saturday afternoon, as securing a victory without their star wide duo would effectively see Barcelona place one hand on back-to-back La Liga titles.
