Inside Benjamin Sesko's Shocking Arsenal and Newcastle Rejection: The Real Story Behind His Transfer Snub

The representative of Manchester United forward Benjamin Šeško has revealed that his client's ambition to join Old Trafford this summer contributed to unsuccessful bids from both Arsenal and Newcastle United during the transfer window.
Šeško emerged as a priority target for several elite clubs during the summer market, but despite initial interest from Arsenal, he had to wait until August to complete his move to United, who overcame competition from Newcastle to secure a deal valued at €76.5 million (£65.9 million, $89.2 million) initially, with an additional €8.5 million in performance-related bonuses.
Although other clubs were willing to offer higher transfer fees and weekly wages, the Slovenian international's unwavering commitment to joining United meant he readily accepted the Red Devils' offer without hesitation.
When questioned about discussions with Arsenal, Elvis Bašanović explained to Pop TV: "Whenever a transfer falls through, multiple factors come into play.
"I believe Benjamin's long-standing ambition to play for Manchester United was crucial. Due to this dream, he was prepared to take a reduced salary, and I also agreed to a lower commission. It was simply the player's aspiration. We are thrilled. I prefer not to discuss other clubs and instead concentrate on United."

Bašanović further disclosed that his initial contact with United dates back to 2018 when Šeško was merely 15 years old.
"I toured the United academy and met with their staff," the representative added. "The timing wasn't appropriate for such a young move. However, we understood the pathway to eventually reach there."
The negotiations with United were unprecedented in Başanović's career, with the agent concluding by expressing his surprise at the grand atmosphere that encompasses the Red Devils.
"I was aware United was a major club, but I hadn't anticipated this level of magnitude," he reflected. "We conducted meetings in kitchens, hotel parking areas, basements, and entered facilities through back entrances.
"When the club arranged dinner for us, photographers were stationed at the entrance, making it challenging to reach our vehicle. An extraordinary experience. I believe we created a remarkable narrative."
