Inter Miami Chief Drops Bombshell: "Great Player" Among Two Major Transfer Revelations

Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas has verified an upcoming permanent transfer for playoff sensation Tadeo Allende and discussed a bid for Monterrey forward Germán Berterame, describing him as an "exceptional talent."

Allende established a new MLS Cup playoffs milestone for most goals scored in a single postseason campaign with nine strikes across six games, including the decisive goal against Vancouver Whitecaps in the title match.

"Tadeo played a crucial role for our team; his performance at the season's end was remarkable, so absolutely, he will remain with us," Mas shared with the Miami Herald. "We've been working diligently on this matter and have reached terms with Celta Vigo... We anticipate his arrival within the next few days."

The 26-year-old forward had been temporarily acquired from Spanish club Celta Vigo, but Mas verified that both organizations have finalized terms for a permanent move. The team, nevertheless, has yet to announce the official signing details and he was absent from the opening practice session.

Mas also validated reports that the organization is working to acquire Berterame to strengthen their offensive lineup, though no agreement has been finalized.

"To begin with, Germán Berterame is an outstanding player," Mas informed media following the squad's initial practice of the new campaign. "We had the opportunity to compete against him in the Concacaf Champions Cup two seasons ago. He's an exceptional talent and we aim to build a strong squad. Inter Miami has submitted an offer... he's a skilled player who would be valuable to our team."

The 27-year-old Mexico international has netted 67 goals and provided 15 assists across 152 appearances in all competitions since joining Monterrey in 2022 and featured in the team's recent 5–1 victory over Mázatlan on Friday evening.

Sergio Reguilón

The opening day of Inter Miami's training session signaled the beginning of a fresh chapter, as club legends Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba declared their retirement following the 2025 campaign.

Meanwhile, former Premier League and La Liga defender Sergio Reguilón, 2025 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Dayne St. Clair and U22 Initiative acquisition David Ayala participated in their first training sessions, along with several other new faces.

"I did take some time away from competitive play, but I've been training rigorously daily. I'm in excellent condition, completely healthy and thrilled to begin working with my new colleagues," Reguilón shared with media, having last competed in May 2025 with Tottenham Hotspur.

"I experienced some personal challenges, so I've been away for a while, but now it's time to demonstrate my abilities on the pitch."

Both the new signings and established players, including Lionel Messi, who trained alongside Rodrigo de Paul and Luis Suárez on Saturday, will aim to overcome their offseason inactivity before a three-game South American tour, beginning with a match against Peru's Alianza Lima on Jan. 24.

After the preseason kickoff, Miami will meet Colombia's Atlético Nacional on Jan. 31 and Ecuador's Barcelona SC on Feb. 7, with the possibility of additional friendlies being scheduled before their Feb. 21 MLS season opener in Los Angeles against Son Heung-min's LAFC.
