Inter Miami Eyes Supporters' Shield Surge as Herons Clash with Toronto FC

Inter Miami CF are seeking to extend their winning streak to four consecutive victories as they travel to face Toronto FC at BMO Field this Saturday afternoon.

Following an impressive 4–0 triumph over New York City FC in midweek action, the Herons currently occupy fifth place in MLS standings, though they hold up to three matches in hand compared to surrounding teams, positioning them as strong contenders for the 2025 MLS Supporters' Shield title.

Inter Miami must now face a Toronto FC squad that has already been ruled out of MLS Cup playoff qualification, as they aim to achieve their third four-match winning run during the 2025 MLS regular season campaign.

Here's how Javier Mascherano might arrange his squad for the match in Canada.

Inter Miami Predicted Starting XI vs. Toronto FC (4-2-3-1)

Lionel Messi

GK: Oscar Ustari—Although experiencing some uncertain periods occasionally, the 38-year-old goalkeeper has provided reliable service as Inter Miami's first-choice keeper.

RB: Ian Fray—Though Marcelo Weigandt has provided defensive reliability, Ian Fray has demonstrated superior attacking capabilities as a complete fullback in Mascherano's tactical system.

CB: Noah Allen—Allen reached his century milestone for the Herons in the previous outing and reclaims his position in Mascherano's defensive line.

CB: Maxi Falcón—Serving as the most reliable component of Miami's defense, Falcón has featured in 21 fixtures during the 2025 MLS regular season campaign.

LB: Jordi Alba—The ex-FC Barcelona veteran has operated in wide positions, but has delivered his finest performances in his preferred left-back role.

CDM: Rodrigo De Paul—The former Atlético Madrid midfielder was deployed on the right flank during Miami's personnel shortage, but now returns to his preferred central defensive midfield position.

CDM: Sergio Busquets—The 37-year-old veteran announced prior to the fixture that he plans to hang up his boots following the conclusion of this campaign.

RW: Tadeo Allende—After operating as a forward during Miami's injury and disciplinary challenges, Allende has rediscovered his peak form on the right flank, where he's expected to feature against Toronto FC.

AM: Lionel Messi—Boasting 24 strikes and 13 assists, Messi presently tops the MLS Golden Boot standings and has the opportunity to surpass Zlatan Ibrahimović's record for most multi-goal performances in a single MLS regular season if he nets two or more goals on Saturday.

LW: Baltasar Rodríguez—While it required patience for Rodríguez to earn Mascherano's confidence, the young talent has produced impressive displays throughout the season's final stretch.

ST: Luis Suárez—The Uruguayan striker made his comeback from a three-game ban in midweek, converting from the penalty spot during the 4–0 victory over New York City FC.
