Inter Miami Reveals Major Decision on Lionel Messi's Contract Future

Inter Miami maintains a calm stance regarding Lionel Messi's future at the club as the World Cup champion approaches the last six months of his current agreement.

The Argentine superstar is nearing the conclusion of his two-year contract signed upon his arrival in 2023, with rumors circulating about a potential departure at year's end following the team's disappointing performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup round of 16, as they continue to fall short of expectations.

Although Messi has recorded 16 goals and six assists across all competitions this season, these statistics haven't consistently resulted in team victories. Beyond their Club World Cup exit, Miami was eliminated in the Concacaf Champions League semifinals and began the summer tournament with only three victories in their previous eight matches.

Regardless of the ongoing rumors, Miami remains confident, with sources informing Fabrizio Romano that both sides share enthusiasm for extending Messi's contract.

"Leo remains committed through the conclusion of 2025," the source stated. "The truth is that both parties desire to continue this partnership.

"Appropriate measures are being implemented with the proper approach to achieve this goal."

Miami co-owner Jorge Mas stated earlier this summer that he anticipates Messi will conclude his career with the Herons, expressing his "optimism" about providing a definitive announcement regarding the Argentina star's future in the upcoming weeks.

Contract negotiations will also take place with experienced players Luis Suárez and Sergio Busquets, both facing free agency at the year's conclusion. Miami aims to retain both athletes and continue expanding their collection of renowned talents.
