Jadon Sancho Locks In Shocking Next Destination As Getafe Offer Looms

Jadon Sancho Locks In Shocking Next Destination As Getafe Offer Looms

Jadon Sancho is said to have rejected an offer from La Liga side Getafe, with a move to Saudi Arabia appearing to be his preferred destination.

After being let go by Manchester United in the summer following two disappointing loan spells at Chelsea and Aston Villa, Sancho received a proposal from Getafe last week that amounted to just 4% of his former Old Trafford wages.

According to MARCA, Sancho is holding firm on his wage demands. The report indicates he is seeking €3 million ($3.3 million) per year, which is seven-and-a-half times what Getafe were willing to offer. Consequently, negotiations have collapsed and the deal is considered dead in the water.

In pursuit of higher earnings, Sancho is reportedly in receipt of an attractive offer from Saudi Arabia, with his representatives now engaged in discussions over a potential move to the Middle East. No specific club has been named.

As a free agent, Sancho is eligible to join any club outside of the transfer window, though certain leagues do have their own rules regarding when newly signed players can be officially registered.

Sancho 'Offered' Lifeline in English Soccer

Sancho has been keeping himself in shape without a club since leaving United this summer, while his agents continue their efforts to secure a new destination for the 26-year-old.

talkSPORT report that Sancho has even been put forward to West Ham United in the Championship, with several other English clubs made aware of his availability on a free transfer. Whether any of them will act on that interest remains to be seen.

Previous reports suggested Sancho acknowledges the advantages of playing abroad after five difficult years at United, where he was constantly under intense scrutiny even throughout his loan stints at Chelsea and Villa.

A move overseas holds no fear for Sancho, who left Manchester City's academy for Borussia Dortmund back in 2017 and returned to the German club on loan in January 2024. A similar relocation would spare him the kind of pressure that came with playing in England.

At just 26, Sancho still has ample time to revive his career. While recapturing the enormous hype that accompanied his arrival at United in 2021 may be out of reach, he will be eager to find a stable environment where he can demonstrate he still has quality to offer at the highest level.
