Jadon Sancho Willing to Take Massive Pay Cut to Escape Manchester United

Jadon Sancho is reportedly willing to take a significant salary reduction to facilitate a potential return to Borussia Dortmund, according to recent reports.

The winger is currently back with Manchester United following an unsuccessful attempt to secure a permanent transfer to Chelsea, where he spent time on loan. However, he has been instructed to remain away from training sessions and seek alternative employment after losing favor with the club.

Italian giants Juventus had initially emerged as frontrunners for his services, but other transfer priorities have caused them to temporarily suspend their pursuit of Sancho. This development has opened the door for Dortmund to potentially reunite with their former player.

As reported by BILD, a move back to Dortmund, where Sancho established his reputation from 2017 to 2021, represents an ideal scenario for the player. He understands the importance of making the correct decision following two disappointing campaigns.

Sancho hasn't displayed his peak performance levels since his successful period at Dortmund, including a productive six-month loan spell there in early 2024. To recapture that form, the England international is allegedly willing to reduce his salary by fifty percent to secure a third tenure at Signal Iduna Park.

Sancho's current net earnings with United are believed to be around €16 million (£13.8 million, $18.3 million), but he's prepared to accept €8 million (£6.9 million, $9.1 million), which wouldn't place him among Dortmund's top wage earners.

The player has allegedly expressed this willingness to return to Dortmund representatives, though it remains uncertain whether the German club will pursue the opportunity. Sporting director Sebastian Kehl previously downplayed speculation about such a transfer earlier this summer.

While Juventus maintains more tangible interest, should Dortmund enter the competition for his signature, Sancho would likely favor a return to the Bundesliga club.

Sancho initially moved to Dortmund from Manchester City's youth system in summer 2017 and, following his emergence, accumulated 50 goals and 57 assists across 137 matches, earning his £73 million ($96.5 million) transfer to United in 2021.

His productivity in England has fallen well short of those standards, managing only 17 goals and 16 assists combined during his spells with United and Chelsea. Given this notable decline, Sancho appears eager to return to a setting that could restore his confidence and form.
