Jose Mourinho Vows Netflix Documentary Will Reveal Shocking Truth Behind 2013 Man United Rejection

José Mourinho has hinted that secrets regarding his role in Manchester United's quest to replace Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013 will be unveiled in a forthcoming Netflix documentary.

Mourinho was available in 2013, nearing the conclusion of his Real Madrid deal and seeking his next opportunity. He eventually made his way back to Chelsea, six years following his dismissal from the club he had guided to back-to-back Premier League championships, and at that time claimed there was no other destination he desired despite speculation linking him to the Manchester United position.

However, the Portuguese manager has now suggested in a conversation with Record that there could be undisclosed information about to emerge publicly for the first time.

"There's a pivotal moment at that organization, not just with Sir Alex's exit, but also with David Gill's departure. David Moyes took over, but when my Netflix documentary is released, the full story will be revealed," Mourinho stated, speaking about the series scheduled to broadcast before 2025 concludes.

Moyes survived just 10 months of a six-year deal before his dismissal, while Mourinho competed with Liverpool and Manchester City for the 2013–14 Premier League crown and subsequently claimed it the next campaign. He was dismissed by Chelsea for the second time in December 2015, seven months following his third championship with the team, with Manchester United becoming his subsequent appointment from summer 2016.

Speaking openly less than a fortnight after his 2013 Chelsea comeback, Mourinho declared he was among only a select few individuals worldwide who knew Ferguson was preparing to step down. However, he maintained that, despite United being a logical destination for him, he never planned to join anyone except Chelsea.

"I was aware that Ferguson was stepping down many months beforehand. I would have rejected every position in the world, the Manchester United role, all of them, for Chelsea," Mourinho declared at that time.

"I am so grateful for [Ferguson's] confidence because it was major news globally—I can picture that only a very limited circle around him was aware of that, and it was a significant responsibility for me to possess that knowledge.

"Why am I aware of that? Because we are companions, so if I am his companion to know that he is going to step down, he is also my companion to know that the team I want to manage in England is Chelsea. Naturally I informed him I want to join Chelsea. I would reject every position in the world for Chelsea."

Mourinho's recent remarks indicate that might not truly be the complete narrative. However, to discover more, it appears we'll need to wait for the documentary to arrive sometime within the next five months.
