Julian Alvarez's Agent Breaks Silence on Liverpool Transfer Rumors
Julián Alvarez found himself connected to potential transfer talks with Liverpool during the summer window, though his representative Fernando Hidalgo has refuted claims of any formal proposals from the reigning English title holders.
Even after securing a six-year deal with Atlético Madrid when he joined the Spanish club in Aug. 2024, Alvarez became the subject of transfer rumors this summer. The ex-Manchester City player allegedly attracted attention from multiple Premier League teams, including Liverpool and Arsenal, after his outstanding first season under Diego Simeone's guidance.
Alvarez netted 29 times across 54 matches for Atlético Madrid, scoring more frequently than several of Spain's top attacking talents, such as Lamine Yamal and Vinícius Júnior. With both the Reds and the Gunners seeking offensive additions, Alvarez emerged as a logical candidate for either team.
However, Hidalgo confirmed it was merely speculation connecting the Argentine with a return to England's premier division.
"No formal proposals came from Liverpool regarding Julián's signing last season, and all claims suggesting otherwise are untrue," Alvarez's representative stated to Erem News.

"During last summer's window, no bids materialized because Atlético de Madrid had no intention of parting with the player, preventing any discussions from occurring," Hidalgo explained.
Earlier reports suggested that Alvarez caught Liverpool's attention during his Manchester City tenure. The Reds allegedly floated an exchange proposal involving the forward and Luis Díaz, though these deals never came to fruition, allowing Alvarez to complete his move to Atlético Madrid.
One year on, Liverpool has strengthened their offensive options with Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitiké and Alexander Isak. Alvarez, however, has experienced a sluggish beginning to the 2025–26 campaign, managing only one strike in Los Colchoneros' first four La Liga fixtures, which yielded merely five points overall.
"What remains clear is that the player maintains complete dedication to Atlético and concentrates entirely on serving the club's interests," Hidalgo concluded.
Alvarez was expected to have an opportunity to compete against Liverpool in Champions League action on Wednesday, Sept. 17, but injury concerns prevented his participation in the encounter.
