Kylian Mbappe Reveals He Turned Down Three European Powerhouses: "The Timing Wasn't Right"

Kylian Mbappé has revealed he rejected offers from Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig in the early phases of his professional journey.
Mbappé became the talk of football when he emerged at Monaco, with the young striker rapidly establishing himself as a future superstar—a status he has successfully lived up to.
His career progression led Mbappé to Paris Saint-Germain in summer 2017, initially joining on loan before completing a permanent transfer valued at €180 million ($210.9 million), though the 26-year-old has now disclosed he could have moved to Germany instead.
"Numerous clubs contacted me," Mbappé, currently at Real Madrid, shared with BILD. "Bayern reached out when I was younger and available to leave Monaco.

"Dortmund made inquiries as well. Along with RB Leipzig. Those are the three teams I recall. Perhaps there were additional clubs, but I can't remember. Everyone's interested now, but the opportunity has passed!"
Though the specifics of Bayern's approach to Mbappé remain unclear, there's certainly a lasting feeling of regret about losing out on potentially the finest talent of his era.
During the 2017 summer window, Bayern strengthened their wing positions by acquiring Kingsley Coman from Juventus and Serge Gnabry from Werder Bremen. Gnabry continues to be a key player in Munich, while Coman only moved to Saudi Arabia this past summer.
Meanwhile, Dortmund invested in Jadon Sancho from Manchester City, believing the 17-year-old could mirror Mbappé's development path. Initial indications were promising, and his £73 million transfer to Manchester United seemed to confirm this potential, but the 25-year-old's career hasn't unfolded as expected, and he's now seeking to revive it on loan at Aston Villa.
