La Liga Chief Unleashes Furious Pre-Dawn Attack on Real Madrid

La Liga chief Javier Tebas launched a scathing attack on Real Madrid, claiming the club is "attempting to manipulate regulations", in the most recent chapter of the ongoing public dispute between both sides.
Tebas and Real Madrid share an extensive history of conflict, with the latest controversy stemming from Los Blancos' appeal to delay their La Liga season opener versus Osasuna. The team contended that the brief interval between concluding their FIFA Club World Cup participation and beginning the 2025–26 campaign prevented them from having the "essential rest and preparation time".
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) rejected Real Madrid's appeal, confirming the club had received the required minimum of 21 consecutive rest days and must commence the season on schedule.
This ruling triggered an angry statement on Real Madrid TV, which declared the 2025–26 season as "corrupted, distorted, and rigged" before its commencement. The broadcast also referenced commentary from Miguel García Caba, a legal expert connected to Real Madrid, La Liga and RFEF.
Tebas launched an unrestrained attack on both Real Madrid and García Caba, specifically challenging the lawyer's assertion: "Everyone understands that when suitable, [regulations] are construed, modified, manipulated."
"Miguel, your 'piece'—if one can label it as such—contains as much legal merit as my passion for curling," Tebas declared in a tirade published on X just after 5 a.m.
"Are you suggesting that during your tenure as the alleged 'distinguished legal expert' at the RFEF, rules were twisted for convenience? Is that what you championed in your position? Or are you insinuating that the Competition Judge should behave corruptly, construing regulations to please the 'Supreme Authority'? MANIPULATING THEM."

Tebas then shifted focus to Real Madrid, declaring, "You mention hostility toward Real Madrid. But you've misidentified the opponent: The entity that has pursued criminal litigation against me has been Real Madrid.
"The organization that has attempted to remove me four times before the CSD has been Real Madrid's management, incidentally, seeking to MANIPULATE the regulations. The party that has submitted over 100 grievances against La Liga has been Real Madrid's leadership," Tebas stated.
Real Madrid devoted considerable time during their 2024–25 campaign openly condemning Spanish referees, with Real Madrid TV consistently broadcasting compilation footage showcasing officiating errors in Los Blancos' fixtures. The club additionally submitted formal complaints regarding La Liga referees.
Tebas concluded his statement by directly addressing Real Madrid's wish to postpone their season debut, scheduled 41 days following their final Club World Cup match.
"Chelsea, a Club World Cup finalist, concluded later than Real Madrid…yet begins two days sooner in the Premier League. In France, PSG and other finalist teams also commence without anyone contemplating MANIPULATING the rules."
Real Madrid begin their inaugural La Liga season under Xabi Alonso on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Santiago Bernabéu.
