Lamine Yamal Sends Bold Warning to Barcelona and the World: "Get Ready"

Barcelona has revealed their fresh home jersey for the 2025–26 La Liga campaign, featuring subtle clues about Lamine Yamal's upcoming shirt number transition.

Following Ansu Fati's loan move to Monaco, the iconic No.10 jersey became available, and reports quickly emerged that this legendary shirt, previously worn by Lionel Messi during his dominant years at Camp Nou, would be given to Yamal.

Although the choice has been finalized, it won't be officially announced until July 13, coinciding with Yamal's 18th birthday and the opening day of Barcelona's pre-season training. A commemorative event is being organized to celebrate this milestone.

Barcelona's latest kit is currently on sale, but Yamal, who is featured extensively in the promotional campaign, doesn't yet display a number. In fact, jersey orders bearing his name include a 'mystery number' shown as '1?' on the official website.

Wearing the new jersey, Yamal declared: "In five years, I'll be 22. Get ready, Barça and the whole world. I will be uncontrollable."

Barcelona's updated shirt marks a pleasant return to the iconic vertical stripes that were absent in the previous season. Complementing this historical homage is a contemporary touch—a blur effect created to represent "movement, speed and freshness".

Yamal's transition to the No.10 jersey could potentially make this a generation-defining shirt, though hopes to pair the young talent with close friend Nico Williams were disrupted by the surprising news of his contract renewal with Athletic Club.

The hunt for a new attacking player is anticipated to persist. Liverpool's Luis Díaz and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford have both been suggested as potential wearers of this new kit, though success will largely hinge on the club's compliance with La Liga's financial regulations.
