Lewandowski Reveals How Former Manager Sparked His Stunning Barcelona Revival

Barcelona begins the 2025–26 campaign viewed as among the world's elite clubs and a genuine contender for all competitions they will enter.
However, the situation was vastly different three years prior when Robert Lewandowski transferred from Bayern Munich to Barcelona. During that period, the organization was experiencing a major reconstruction, hampered by financial difficulties—which persist today—and beginning Xavi Hernández's inaugural complete campaign as head coach.
Lewandowski worked under Xavi for two campaigns before the former midfield legend was succeeded by Hansi Flick last season. Barcelona completely regained their status under the German tactician, yet Lewandowski credits the club's revival to Xavi's foundation.
"He [Xavi] represented a crucial figure for me," Lewandowski stated in a recent conversation with the BBC. "I recognized that he possesses something unique to become an exceptional coach. For this institution [Barcelona], his accomplishments during that challenging period constitute outstanding work. Sometimes individuals fail to recognize this."
"He adores this club and, thanks to him as well, Barcelona have reached our current position," Lewandowski continued.
