Speed, speed and more speed—it's one of the first attributes players prioritize when assembling a squad in EA FC's enormously popular Ultimate Team mode. From the game's earliest iterations to today, raw pace has consistently been one of the most powerful tools for leaving virtual opponents behind, regardless of how gameplay has evolved over the years.
And in the real sport, things aren't so different.
Modern football may be more tactically refined than ever, featuring possession-based systems, dynamic positioning and inverted fullbacks, but speed still plays a massive role. A sharp burst through the center can break a defensive line, a flying winger can transform a routine attack into a genuine threat, while a swift defender can sprint back to neutralize a scoring opportunity.
According to data from the Premier League, these are the 10 quickest players in the English top flight for the 2026–27 season, based on figures from the previous campaign.
It is worth noting, however, that the figures exclude newly promoted Ipswich Town, Hull City and Coventry City, as the EFL Championship does not centrally gather and publish this data in the same manner. That leaves room for some new speedsters to make their mark this season—and potentially surpass the figures listed below.
10. Yankuba Minteh (36.11 km/h)

Yankuba Minteh's searing pace makes him a specialist at catching defenses off balance—either bursting past them early in matches or exploiting fatigued legs late in games.
In between those two moments, however, he can be somewhat less impactful for Brighton ... he's also currently sidelined through injury, which is far from ideal.
9. Daniel James (36.13 km/h)

Leeds United's Daniel James has forged a reputation on his explosive acceleration, with the compact Welshman routinely leaving defenders trailing behind him.
His highlight reel is filled with moments of James simply blowing past opponents and tearing through defensive lines with sheer raw pace.
8. Jeremie Frimpong (36.18 km/h)

Jeremie Frimpong is Liverpool's high-energy dynamo, capable of sprinting back to make vital recovery tackles before immediately powering forward to threaten opponents with his electrifying speed.
That is, of course, when he manages to stay fit.
7. Erling Haaland (36.20 km/h)

You might be taken aback to find Erling Haaland this low in the rankings, given his reputation for explosive acceleration and the frightening pace he appears to generate whenever he bears down on goal.
His actual top speed last season, however, was only sufficient to place him seventh among the players currently featured on this list.
6. William Osula (36.29 km/h)

William Osula had a breakout 2025–26 season with Newcastle United, netting seven Premier League goals and demonstrating considerable promise in the attacking third.
The 6'4" forward also turned heads with his surprising pace, establishing himself as one of the division's fastest players despite his imposing physical build.
5. Pedro Neto (36.32 km/h)

Pedro Neto isn't exactly a prolific output player, but he is certainly a tireless runner—a relentless and lightning-quick presence who appears to be in perpetual motion.
That said, he may be departing Chelsea—who value him at a hefty $135 million (£100 million)—with Al Hilal and Tottenham Hotspur among the clubs reportedly interested in acquiring him for 2026–27 and beyond.
4. Bryan Mbeumo (36.34 km/h)

Bryan Mbeumo is as compact in stature as the legendary Lionel Messi, and, much like the Argentine icon, is extremely difficult to stop once he builds momentum.
Sure, he's nowhere near as technically gifted in possession, but Premier League defenses don't welcome the idea of Mbeumo bearing down on them in a one-on-one situation. Brentford's loss was very much Manchester United's gain.
3. Anthony Elanga (36.35 km/h)

Anthony Elanga's debut Premier League season with Newcastle United was disappointing, to put it mildly: 32 appearances, zero goals and a single assist.
At least he demonstrated he possessed serious pace. In a December fixture against Chelsea, the Swedish winger recorded a stunning top speed, offering a glimpse of the raw acceleration that makes him such a threatening runner.
2. Destiny Udogie (36.41 km/h)

Destiny Udogie made just 14 Premier League starts in 2025–26, but one of them, against Brighton & Hove Albion in September, yielded a remarkable top-speed reading.
He wasn't Tottenham's quickest player that season, though. That distinction belonged to Djed Spence, who hit 36.62 km/h. Spence has since departed for Inter Milan, however, meaning he does not qualify for this list.
1. Gabriel Martinelli (36.74 km/h)

Gabriel Martinelli isn't always the most consistent when it comes to end product, with the Brazilian occasionally leaving Arsenal supporters frustrated in the final third.
But when it comes to outright speed, very few can match him.
In fact, Martinelli is the fastest player in the Premier League. Give him space, play the ball beyond his marker and let him run, and stopping him becomes a near-impossible challenge.
