Lions Roar Past Inter Miami 4-1: Player Ratings from Orlando City's Crushing Florida Derby Victory
Inter Miami CF continues to struggle against Orlando City SC in 2025.
Although they've shown impressive form during the Leagues Cup and their recent MLS streak, Inter Miami's difficulties persisted against their in-state rivals, suffering a 4–1 defeat on Sunday evening in a disappointing display at Inter&Co. Stadium in Orlando.
This represents the second occasion Miami has been beaten by Orlando this campaign, following their earlier 3–0 defeat in their initial encounter back in May. On this occasion, the Herons clearly missed the presence of the sidelined Lionel Messi.
Orlando opened the scoring quickly with a second-minute strike from Luis Muriel, before Miami's Yannick Bright equalized for the away team with a spectacular effort from outside the penalty area in the fifth minute. However, that would be the closest the Herons would come.
The Lions regained their advantage in the 50th minute, as Muriel weaved past Jordi Alba from a short corner and fired his shot into the net. They doubled their lead shortly thereafter, when Martín Ojeda defeated goalkeeper Oscar Ustari at his near post in the 58th minute.
Matters deteriorated further for the Herons in the closing stages, as Benjamin Cremaschi just managed to keep Marco Pašalić onside, enabling the Orlando forward to break clear and make it 4–1.
Following the defeat, Miami slipped below Orlando in the Eastern Conference standings, falling to sixth place ahead of next week's encounter with defending MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy.
