Liverpool and Wolves Honor Diogo Jota with Special New Tributes

Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers continue to honor Diogo Jota after the Portuguese striker's heartbreaking passing earlier this month.

Jota and his sibling André Silva perished in a vehicle collision in Spain, prompting Liverpool to permanently honor his contribution by withdrawing his No.20 jersey from circulation.

The subsequent weeks have witnessed numerous commemorations from the football community worldwide, with both Liverpool and his previous club Wolves implementing measures to celebrate Jota's importance to their organizations.

Liverpool's recent homage involved relocating Jota's player information to a dedicated area on the club's roster page. No longer listed among the attacking players, Jota now appears in a special section called "Forever" alongside his iconic No.20.

Wolves have now welcomed Jota into their Hall of Fame, honoring a player who was instrumental in their Premier League comeback.

"There is profound sorrow and shock surrounding this terrible tragedy, and we felt compelled to create our own memorial as quickly as possible," stated John Richards, Wolves Hall of Fame chairman and club vice-president.

"Like everyone, we've been devastated by these events, and we recall what an exceptional player Diogo was for Wolves during that memorable promotion campaign under Nuno [Espírito Santo] and our initial seasons back in the Premier League.

"His tally of 44 goals for Wolves, followed by 65 for Liverpool as a Premier League champion, tells the story. Countless supporters throughout football—particularly in Portugal following his role in their Nations League triumph this summer—are mourning his departure. We saw no need to postpone this recognition.

"We hope this will provide some solace to those who knew Diogo and André personally, and we believe Wolves fans will recognize that this tribute comes from genuine affection and respect, and is completely deserved."
