Liverpool Close to Landing Milos Kerkez as Contract Details Emerge

Milos Kerkez is expected to undergo his Liverpool medical examination on Monday as he nears completion of his transfer from Bournemouth, with the deal valued at approximately £40 million ($53.5 million).
Liverpool have been consistently associated with pursuing the energetic Hungarian left-back. The Merseyside club is looking to enhance their options as Andy Robertson's form declines, while they aim to retain their Premier League title in the coming season. Several reports emerged on Friday—coinciding with the announcement of Florian Wirtz's record transfer—suggesting that Liverpool and Bournemouth had reached an agreement.
It now seems that an official announcement is approaching. The Athletic indicates that Kerkez departed Belgrade, Serbia to travel to the U.K. for his Liverpool medical examination before being introduced to supporters and press on Tuesday, June 24.
The publication also states that Kerkez will sign a five-year contract following his £40 million move. This amount is £5 million ($6.7 million) below Bournemouth's initial valuation, highlighting another successful negotiation by Liverpool's sporting director, Richard Hughes.

The former Bournemouth official has already facilitated three signings this summer. Along with Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Hungarian keeper Ármin Pécsi, Kerkez's arrival could push Liverpool's summer expenditure beyond £180 million ($240.8 million), significantly exceeding global spending and at least doubling what most clubs except Manchester City have invested.
This transfer activity would also establish this summer as the costliest transfer period in Liverpool's 133-year existence.
Arne Slot's Premier League winners possess the financial capacity for these substantial purchases due to multiple factors. Liverpool recorded unprecedented revenues even before accounting for the financial benefits of their recent domestic success.
This achievement followed a conservative summer 2024 approach, where only Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa were acquired for a total cost below Kerkez's reported £40 million price tag. Having spent less than 72 other clubs previously, Liverpool can invest heavily in the current window while remaining well within the Premier League's profit and sustainability regulations.
