Liverpool Delivers Shocking Verdict on Ibrahima Konate's Future Following Giovanni Leoni Signing

Liverpool are set to present Ibrahima Konaté with a fresh contract offer within the next few days and may contemplate offloading the defender during the summer transfer window if he declines their proposal, as per recent reports.
The 26-year-old's current deal at Anfield runs until next summer, creating doubt about his long-term plans while attracting substantial attention from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Naturally, the Merseyside club is anxious for Konaté to commit to a new deal to prevent losing a valuable squad member on a free transfer in 2026, with Liverpool determined not to repeat the Trent Alexander-Arnold scenario.
As reported by MARCA, Liverpool will present a contract proposal to the central defender "within the coming days" to ward off advances from European powerhouses, and could potentially explore selling him in this summer's market if he turns down their offer.

The report indicates that Liverpool are already informed about conversations between Konaté and Madrid, with the player reportedly receptive to such a transfer. According to AS, the Reds would seek €50 million (£43 million, $58.2 million) for his signature this summer, though Los Blancos would only contemplate offering up to €25 million (£21.5 million, $29.1 million).
Liverpool currently face a shortage in central defense, with Virgil van Dijk, Konaté and Joe Gomez representing their sole senior options after Jarell Quansah's summer departure. Nevertheless, they are close to securing 18-year-old Giovanni Leoni and maintain interest in Marc Guéhi.
Should Liverpool successfully complete both acquisitions, it might facilitate Konaté's departure if he chooses not to extend his stay with the club. Accepting a bid below their reported valuation would prove more advantageous than losing the defender without receiving any compensation.
Madrid have already strengthened their defensive options during the summer with the signings of Alexander-Arnold, Álvaro Carreras and Dean Huijsen, but remain interested in adding another defender due to the fitness concerns surrounding David Alaba and Éder Militão.
