Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has claimed Mohamed Salah will leave a more significant Premier League legacy than Cristiano Ronaldo when he departs Anfield at the end of this summer.
Salah will bring his time in England's top division to a close at the end of the current campaign, with Carragher cautioning of a "superstar drought" following the departure of a player he contends is only comparable to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in terms of Premier League influence.
"Among overseas attacking players who have thrived in England, only Thierry Henry surpasses Salah's output and consistency," Carragher wrote for The Telegraph.
"While many will make cases for players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, Gianfranco Zola, Dennis Bergkamp or Eric Cantona, none of them delivered the same remarkable numbers as reliably, season after season, as the Egyptian."

When Ronaldo touched down at Manchester United in the summer of 2003, an 11-year-old Salah was still waiting to be discovered back in Egypt.
Ronaldo, seven years Salah's elder, appeared ready to burst onto the world stage, though his ascent was far from instant. Three underwhelming seasons and one standout campaign preceded his breakthrough in 2007–08, which produced 31 goals in 34 appearances and culminated in his first Ballon d'Or.
The key distinction between Ronaldo and Salah is that the former departed the Premier League just as his prime was beginning. Ronaldo went on to become one of the all-time greats during his spell at Real Madrid, only returning to England in 2021 when his powers had already started to fade.
A tally of 103 goals in 236 appearances remains a commendable record, yet it arguably fails to capture the image of Ronaldo as the record-shattering global superstar the world came to know.
Salah, by contrast, was considered a promising but unproven talent when he first joined Chelsea in 2014, and was viewed as a secondary option for Liverpool three years later upon his return from Roma. In the opinion of many, the Egyptian had already reached a modest ceiling.
His debut season back in England produced 32 goals — more than Ronaldo ever managed in a single Premier League campaign — as Salah rapidly established himself among the elite, maintaining that status for the bulk of his nine seasons at Liverpool.
"Ronaldo's stints at Manchester United, both his initial spell and his later return, fell either side of his absolute peak years at Real Madrid," Carragher noted.
"Salah edges ahead of him when judged purely on Premier League performance and impact. In an all-time Premier League XI, Salah is an automatic pick in the front three alongside Henry and Ronaldo."
