Liverpool Launch Official Bid to Snatch Newcastle's Star Striker Alexander Isak

Newcastle United have turned down an official bid from Liverpool for forward Alexander Isak, according to reports.

Liverpool submitted an unofficial inquiry to Newcastle last month to gauge interest in acquiring Isak for approximately £120 million ($158.6 million), but the Magpies quickly dismissed the approach.

Isak subsequently indicated his desire to depart Newcastle during the summer window and did not join the team for their pre-season preparations. He is currently training individually at his former club Real Sociedad while awaiting developments.

Per The Athletic, Liverpool have now made their interest official by submitting a formal offer for the Swedish forward, which Newcastle have once more declined.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool's initial proposal was valued at £120 million excluding additional clauses, though the Daily Mail subsequently suggested the bid was closer to £110 million ($145.4 million).

Earlier reports have indicated Newcastle are willing to seek up to £150 million ($198.3 million) for their leading scorer, while maintaining that Isak remains unavailable for transfer.

Attempts to secure Isak with an extended contract, potentially including a release clause for the summer 2026 transfer period, have been unsuccessful as Isak has confirmed his wish to leave St James' Park, with Liverpool being his favored destination.

Although Newcastle will attempt to retain Isak—they are anticipated to require his return to training next week—they are exploring potential replacements in preparation for a possible exit.

Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig is believed to be their primary target, though Manchester United have entered as competing bidders and feel optimistic about securing his services ahead of Newcastle. Brentford's Yoane Wissa represents another option, but the Bees are hesitant to approve another significant departure following Bryan Mbeumo's recent exit.
