Liverpool Lock Down Rising Star with Blockbuster Long-Term Deal
Liverpool's young winger Rio Ngumoha has put pen to paper on his maiden professional deal, as announced by the club.
The talented youngster made the switch from Chelsea to Liverpool during the summer transfer window of 2024 and has successfully earned his place in Arne Slot's senior squad this campaign, making four first-team appearances and finding the net on his Premier League bow against Newcastle United.
After celebrating his 17th birthday at the end of last month, Ngumoha has successfully upgraded from his academy scholarship to a full professional agreement.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that the youngster's new deal, spanning three years, carries a weekly wage of approximately £1,000 ($1,300)—aligning with the club's established policy of limiting financial packages for emerging talents.
The 2025–26 campaign has proven to be a remarkable journey for Ngumoha, who entered the match as a substitute in the dying moments of August's clash with Newcastle to score a dramatic leveller just four days shy of his 17th birthday.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was quick to share some wisdom with Ngumoha following the match, advising the teenager to stay grounded and avoid getting caught up in the inevitable attention that followed.
"He's incredibly young," Salah shared with Men in Blazers. "I advised him after the match, 'Stay away from social media.'
"Sure, you can celebrate the goal with your loved ones, with your mates. Savor the experience completely because these are your initial breakthrough moments in football. But don't get too involved and seek validation from the external world because it will always be superficial.
"You'll constantly chase that sensation, that recognition from others, if you only look for approval from outside sources.
"So his future prospects depend entirely on how he manages this situation. How will we progress? I must put in the effort and remain grounded because he's extremely young. I explained to him that some players reach their peak too soon and then face difficulties afterward.
"I genuinely hope for his success. He's surrounded by a supportive team and we consistently communicate with him, plus the manager guides him as well, so he simply needs to stay modest and dedicated, and we'll see what happens."
