Liverpool Officially Unveil Shirt Numbers for New Signings Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike

Following the unveiling of Liverpool's latest adidas home and away jerseys, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitiké have received their official squad numbers for the Reds.

The new Liverpool recruits were initially given provisional jersey numbers after joining the club during the summer transfer window, as the team waited for their adidas deal to commence on August 1 before confirming permanent squad numbers.

With the debut of the new home and away strips, Wirtz and Ekitiké's official numbers have been revealed.

Wirtz will don the iconic No.7 jersey, which became available after Luis Díaz's transfer to Bayern Munich. This number carries significant heritage at Liverpool, previously worn by legendary figures including Kenny Dalglish, Ian Callaghan, Kevin Keegan, John Aldridge and Luis Suárez.

Ekitiké has been allocated the No.22 shirt for the upcoming campaign. This number has typically been reserved for backup goalkeepers in recent seasons—worn by Simon Mignolet, Andy Lonergan and Loris Karius—though it was given to promising right-back Calvin Ramsay upon his 2022 arrival from Aberdeen. The Scottish defender has sported this number during both of his first-team appearances.

Other summer acquisitions Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong will sport numbers 6 and 30, respectively. Giorgi Mamardashvili has been given 25 while Freddie Woodman will wear 28 after his free transfer arrival. Academy goalkeeper Ármin Pécsi, recruited from Puskás Akadémia, receives No.41.

Additionally, several existing squad members have switched numbers. Conor Bradley has upgraded from 84 to 12 as he prepares to contribute in covering Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure. The No.12 shirt hasn't been worn at Liverpool since Joe Gomez during the 2021–22 campaign.

Promising midfielder Trey Nyoni has decided to switch to 42, moving from his previous assignment of 98.
