Liverpool Prepares for New Bidding War Over Luis Diaz as Transfer Position Emerges

Bayern Munich are exploring the possibility of signing Liverpool winger Luis Díaz as they continue their hunt for attacking reinforcements, according to reports from Germany.
The German champions failed to secure Florian Wirtz from Liverpool in a highly publicized transfer battle and appear set to miss out on Nico Williams to Barcelona, prompting them to compile a new list of potential signings.
While Cody Gakpo remains on Bayern's radar, Sky Sports Germany reports that club executives are now also evaluating a potential swoop for his Liverpool colleague Díaz.
Although formal discussions have yet to commence, Bayern have conducted preliminary internal meetings regarding a possible deal. Honorary president Uli Hoeneß and supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are reportedly strong admirers of the Colombian winger.
Liverpool's interest in retaining Díaz has been tested before this summer. The Merseyside club spent considerable time during the early transfer window rejecting advances from Barcelona, who eventually shifted their focus to Athletic Club's Williams.

Reports suggest Díaz has grown frustrated with Liverpool's handling of his situation this summer. With his contract running until 2026, the winger finds himself at a pivotal moment in his career and, based on Colombian media reports, believes Liverpool have not treated him fairly regarding both transfer discussions and contract negotiations.
Sky indicates that Liverpool would be willing to part ways with Díaz for an appropriate offer, and have reportedly already started identifying potential replacements.
When Barcelona pursued Díaz earlier this summer, Liverpool reportedly set their asking price at €80 million (£68.6 million, $94.1 million) for the 28-year-old—a substantial figure but within Bayern's financial capabilities, given their willingness to pay even more for Wirtz previously.
However, Díaz's age could potentially complicate any deal, leading Bayern to maintain an extensive list of alternative options.
In addition to Gakpo, Bayern are reportedly monitoring Brighton & Hove Albion's Kaoru Mitoma and Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola among other targets.
