Liverpool are said to have made contact with Real Madrid over striker Endrick as part of their search for attacking options, a pursuit that has also seen two unsuccessful bids for Brighton & Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh.
The Merseyside club are on the hunt for a Mohamed Salah successor and have been chasing Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola, though a price tag reaching as high as $190 million (£140 million) has prompted Liverpool to explore alternative targets.
Minteh is one such alternative, long considered a potential signing and now confirmed by The Athletic to be firmly on Liverpool's radar. Two bids have been lodged, the second valued at up to $82 million (£60 million), both of which Brighton have turned down.
Brighton are reportedly holding out for as much as $95.5 million (£70 million) for Minteh, who faces up to three months on the sidelines as he recovers from surgery on a leg injury.
Separately, The Times reports that Liverpool's approach for Real Madrid's Endrick was also knocked back, with the Spanish giants intent on retaining the highly-rated youngster.
Madrid's unwillingness to negotiate may be partly due to the nature of Liverpool's interest, which, according to Fabrizio Romano, centered on a permanent transfer — either straight away or beginning with a loan. Such proposals were flatly dismissed by the club's top decision-makers at the Bernabéu.
Iraola: Liverpool Must Be Patient in Transfer Market
A growing number of Liverpool supporters have been voicing concern over the club's slow activity in the transfer window.
Defender Jérémy Jacquet's move was arranged back in February, meaning the only new business this summer amounts to the acquisition of winger Víctor Muñoz and a loan deal to bring Ronald Araújo in from Barcelona.
Liverpool did see an early offer for Yan Diomande fall through — the midfielder went on to join Real Madrid — and the prolonged pursuit of the costly Barcola deal has left the club in an anxious position as the transfer deadline approaches. New manager Andoni Iraola has called on supporters to stay calm.
"We'll definitely sign players, yes," Iraola told Sky Sports. "I hope more than one.
"The thing is, me as a coach selfishly, I want the players for the first day of preseason so everyone is ready to go, but also I understand how this works.
"Some days you have to wait until the end. The important picture is the one we have on Sept. 1 and I hope, because it's true that we are still quite thin, that we can have more help from here until the end of the market."
