Liverpool Star Slams Manager Arne Slot's Excuses in Explosive Outburst

Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa challenged Arne Slot's acknowledgment that the defending champions struggle against direct, physical football tactics.

Following their aerial struggles during Saturday evening's match at Brentford, marking Liverpool's fourth consecutive Premier League loss, Slot conceded he hasn't "discovered a solution" to counter long-ball strategies.

Ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher suggested the current Merseyside team lacks the physical presence to handle such approaches. "Liverpool must examine the size and strength throughout their squad because, at present, I believe they're lacking sufficient physicality," he expressed concern.

However, despite Carragher's worries, Liverpool actually possesses the Premier League's second-tallest roster when calculated by playing time, behind only Newcastle United. Chiesa—measuring 5'9"—actually welcomed more aerial challenges.

"We possess world-class talents who can adapt to any circumstances and deliver exceptional performances, so I see no issue," the Italian star informed The Guardian ahead of Wednesday's Carabao Cup fourth-round match versus Crystal Palace.

"If Crystal Palace chooses to employ long balls and lengthy throw-ins, they're absolutely welcome to try, because we'll respond with tremendous energy and by winning battles, striving for victory. I'm unsure if this translates in English, but [in Italy] we believe: 'Success breeds success.' So we aim to triumph tomorrow. That's all."

Slot has also suggested the challenge of incorporating numerous new players into the team this season as contributing to Liverpool's recent struggles. Once more, Chiesa remained unimpressed by this reasoning.

"There are multiple factors and it's not simply one issue," he dismissed. "We're not securing victories. Early in the campaign we were winning and nobody questioned various aspects. Regrettably it's not [an ideal period] but I maintain optimism and hope we'll recover.

"We possess the talent and personnel to achieve this and we have an excellent coach so I don't foresee any major problems. I trust there won't be difficulties ahead."

Chiesa: The Dressing Room Was Quiet

Chiesa projected complete confidence before the midweek cup encounter, though the atmosphere in Liverpool's changing room following Saturday's loss to Brentford told a different story.

"Nobody was talking," the 28-year-old disclosed to The Times. "Because, following the match, everyone understands. Sometimes discussion isn't necessary regarding the circumstances. You comprehend the situation.

"So nobody spoke because we need to consider how we can improve and, typically, when facing this scenario the initial thought is to contribute more, practice with greater intensity. It was positive that post-match we remained silent, as it demonstrates everyone desires change."
