Liverpool Unveil Squad Numbers for New Signings Wirtz, Kerkez, and Frimpong

Liverpool has announced that their newly acquired players will sport provisional jersey numbers for Sunday's pre-season match against Preston North End, with their permanent numbers to be determined later in the summer transfer window.
The Merseyside club has been exceptionally active in the transfer market, leaving the kit management team struggling to keep pace. While many clubs typically reveal a new player's squad number immediately upon signing, Liverpool has chosen to delay this announcement.
The club's upcoming weekend fixture at Deepdale—which could mark the debut appearance for supporters to witness Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and other new acquisitions in action—has necessitated this interim solution.
Temporary Shirt Numbers for Liverpool's Summer Signings

Player | Number |
---|---|
Giorgi Mamardashvili | 55 |
Freddie Woodman | 56 |
Milos Kerkez | 57 |
Florian Wirtz | 58 |
Jeremie Frimpong | 59 |
Armin Pecsi | 60 |
Instead of finalizing permanent numbers for the new arrivals while the transfer window remains open, Liverpool has distributed six provisional numbers. The trio of new goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi have been allocated 55, 56 and 60 respectively. Kerkez has been assigned 57, Wirtz received 58 and Frimpong was given 59.
It appears extremely unlikely that any of these players will keep these numbers when the 2025–26 campaign officially commences.
Beyond Diogo Jota's retired No. 20, several squad number changes could occur in the upcoming weeks. The uncertain status of various Liverpool players also creates questions about their jersey numbers. If Luis Díaz eventually concludes his prolonged transfer speculation with a summer departure, Wirtz could potentially inherit his No. 7.
Numbers six, 12, 13, 15, 16, 23, 24, 28 and 29 remain currently unoccupied.
While uncertainty surrounds Wirtz and Kerkez's final numbers, Frimpong is anticipated to keep the No. 30 jersey which he has donned for five consecutive seasons at Bayer Leverkusen. For Liverpool's pre-season matches, though, he will continue with 59.
