Liverpool's Alexander Isak Hunt: How Nick Woltemade Signing Impacts Their Star Striker Chase

Liverpool are "anticipated" to shortly present an enhanced bid for Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak that would shatter the British transfer record for a second occasion this summer.

Newcastle have been hesitant to part with Isak and have experienced a strained and highly publicized confrontation with the Sweden striker, who has clearly expressed his desire to depart.

Liverpool have previously had one Isak proposal rejected this summer. However, with Newcastle finally close to securing a replacement in Stuttgart's Nick Woltemade, the complex situation is finally being resolved just days before the transfer window closes.

The Times reports that Woltemade is scheduled for a Newcastle medical examination after a £65 million ($87.6 million) fee was arranged between the clubs. The 23-year-old Germany striker has already arrived in northeast England and spent Thursday evening in accommodation awaiting the completion of his transfer.

Following 12 Bundesliga strikes last season, Woltemade was initially pursued by Bayern Munich. However, no deal materialized and Newcastle turned their focus to the tall striker after failing to secure Benjamin Šeško, who moved to Manchester United instead.

This provides Newcastle with the opportunity to finally allow Isak's departure and conclude several bitter weeks. The Telegraph reports that it should clear the path for a fresh Liverpool offer over the weekend.

The Reds have already established a new domestic transfer record with the £116 million acquisition of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in June. The proposal for Isak would allegedly exceed that figure, beginning at £130 million guaranteed to Newcastle, before additional clauses increase it further.

The Magpies have consistently demanded approximately £150 million, which would position Isak as the third most costly player in football history—trailing only Neymar and Kylian Mbappé—and could potentially reach that figure if all performance bonuses are met.

Liverpool's summer expenditure on eight first-team acquisitions has already reached £321 million and could climb to £470 million with Isak's addition. This bold investment has been achieved without PSR concerns through intelligent sales totaling £228 million, a conservative transfer approach last summer, substantial revenue from Premier League earnings and fresh commercial partnerships.
