Liverpool's Luis Diaz Struggles Continue as History Repeats Itself

Reports from Colombia suggest that Liverpool's Luis Díaz is dissatisfied with how the club has managed his transfer situation this summer, particularly given interest from Barcelona and Al Nassr.
The Colombian star was Barcelona's primary target during the early stages of the transfer window, however, Liverpool's €80 million (£68.2 million, $93.6 million) valuation forced the Spanish champions to withdraw and focus on Athletic Club's Nico Williams instead.
Liverpool reportedly rejected Barcelona's advances decisively, while allegedly failing to demonstrate their dedication to the player through contract renewal discussions. Díaz's current deal runs until 2027, and he is said to have declined an extension offer.
Colombian reporter Pipe Sierra, who has reliable sources regarding Díaz's situation, reports that the 28-year-old and his camp are frustrated with Liverpool's approach, claiming the club has "broken their promises". The specific commitments Liverpool allegedly failed to honor remain undisclosed.
This reportedly isn't the first instance where Díaz has expressed frustration with Liverpool regarding contract discussions, and the uncertain status of his current agreement could potentially facilitate his departure from Anfield.

Díaz had previously caught supporters off guard by acknowledging discussions with other teams, though he emphasized his desire to stay at Liverpool, stating he would gladly extend his contract or fulfill his remaining two-year commitment.
Barcelona are unlikely to renew their pursuit of Díaz. They are currently working on a €62 million ($72.5 million) transfer for Williams and are also reportedly considering a loan move for Manchester United's Marcus Rashford.
Whether Al Nassr will make another attempt remains uncertain. The Saudi club is expected to bolster their roster following Cristiano Ronaldo's contract extension and were previously rumored to be preparing an offer near Liverpool's asking price earlier in the window.
