Liverpool's Marc Guehi Dreams Crushed as Crystal Palace Delivers Brutal Transfer Ultimatum

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has stated that the club has not yet approved Liverpool's offer for defender Marc Guéhi, encouraging the Eagles to reject all proposals before the transfer deadline.
Liverpool submitted an offer for Guéhi over the weekend reportedly valued at £35 million ($47.3 million) as they look to conclude their remarkable transfer window on a high note, but the 25-year-old remained focused despite the rumors, delivering an outstanding display in Sunday's 3–0 victory against Aston Villa.
Palace chairman Steve Parish has openly admitted he would consider bids for Guéhi this summer since the defender is in his contract's final year, stating the Eagles cannot risk losing him without compensation in 2026. However, Glasner has consistently cautioned his superiors that parting with Guéhi now would be a significant error.
"No agreement exists," Glasner stated during his recent press briefing as he emphasized once more his conviction that selling Guéhi shouldn't even be contemplated.
"We must [retain Guehi] if we aim to have a successful campaign. We've had an excellent beginning, remaining undefeated across six matches, claiming the Community Shield. Our second objective was reaching the Conference League group phase and we achieved it. I informed the squad it was a solid start, but for a truly great start we needed to triumph here and that's exactly what the players accomplished.
"However, it's merely the beginning. The initial phase is complete. To have a successful campaign we require Marc. It's impossible to find a suitable replacement within a day who can perform immediately in the Premier League. When you observe our defensive structure, this forms our backbone, everyone understands their role precisely, everyone can depend on one another. Marc isn't just a minor component in this, he's our leader.

"We must retain him. I've expressed this to the chairman. It's not about my preferences. I appreciate Marc, he's an incredibly professional player, and such a decent person but it's about Crystal Palace's future, it's about having a successful season. We must keep him. We've discussed this matter and agreed, 'We'll only sell Marc if we secure the proper replacement'. Without the right replacement, it's obvious to me that we should keep him."
Guéhi addressed Sky Sports following the match to provide an update that has left numerous Palace supporters wondering about what lies ahead.
"I'm from south London, raised in south London and have captained this club since my youth," he stated. "They've been wonderful to me and my family. It's an honor to represent this club.
"I'm fine. I don't enjoy being in the spotlight. I'm fortunate to have a great club and excellent teammates supporting me. When you concentrate on what matters most, the football, it becomes somewhat easier."
Connected to Guéhi's situation is Joe Gomez's future. Fabrizio Romano reports that AC Milan are seeking to complete a deal and feel optimistic about reaching terms with Liverpool, but the Reds will only permit his exit if they can secure Guéhi first.
