Liverpool's Walking Wounded: All the Stars Missing for High-Stakes Champions League Showdown Against PSG

The stakes could not be much higher for Liverpool as they head into Wednesday's Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

After suffering a humiliating defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup over the weekend, manager Arne Slot is desperate to prevent what has already been a frustrating season from completely falling apart. To achieve that, he must avoid the same fate that befell Chelsea, whose campaign is threatening to collapse after they were thrashed 8–2 on aggregate by the French club in the previous round.

There was a welcome boost ahead of Wednesday's fixture, with forward Alexander Isak making his return to the matchday squad for the first time since breaking his leg back in December, though Liverpool remain without several key players.

Here is Liverpool's full injury list ahead of Wednesday's clash.

Alisson

Alisson

Injury: Hamstring
Return date: May 3 (vs. Man Utd)

There is a degree of uncertainty surrounding Alisson's injury situation. The shot-stopper missed the first leg of the round of 16 against Galatasaray but managed to feature in two games before being ruled out once more.

Alisson took to social media to acknowledge he would be sidelined for "a while," before Slot confirmed he does not expect the Reds' first-choice goalkeeper to return to the starting lineup until late in the season.

A further social media post from the Brazilian indicated he is targeting a comeback by the end of April. Giorgi Mamardashvili will continue to deputize in his place.

Conor Bradley

Conor Bradley

Injury: Knee
Return date: Next season

No specific timeline has been publicly announced for right back Conor Bradley since he sustained a serious knee injury in early January.

It became apparent fairly quickly, however, that Bradley's season was finished, along with the Northern Irishman's hopes of featuring at the World Cup.

Bradley is not expected to feature again until the 2026–27 season, though the exact date of his return to fitness remains unclear.

Wataru Endo

Wataru Endo

Injury: Ankle
Return date: World Cup

Midfielder Wataru Endo was carried off on a stretcher during the match against Sunderland in February after his ankle became caught in the turf—the kind of injury that can result in vastly different recovery timescales.

Endo confirmed earlier this month that he required surgery to replace a ligament entirely and acknowledged it would take a minimum of three months to recover, after which he would only be able to begin light activity beyond walking.

His aim is to be fit in time for the World Cup with Japan.

Giovanni Leoni

Giovanni Leoni

Injury: Knee
Return date: Next season

Centre back Giovanni Leoni suffered an ACL injury on his Liverpool debut as far back as September, and once the diagnosis was confirmed, his season was immediately declared over.

Exactly when Leoni will be back remains uncertain. An initial recovery estimate of 12 months was given, though some players have bounced back from similar injuries somewhat sooner, leaving open the possibility of a return at the start of next season.

There have been reports linking Leoni with a loan move to aid his rehabilitation and rebuild his match fitness.

Stefan Bajcetic

Stefan Bajčetić

Injury: Hamstring
Return date: Unknown

Perhaps the most puzzling situation at Liverpool right now involves young midfielder Stefan Bajčetić. Once celebrated as a breakout talent at Anfield during the 2022–23 season, the 21-year-old has not featured in a single match since picking up a severe hamstring injury while on loan at Las Palmas in May 2025.

Bajčetić has endured one setback after another in his attempts to recover, leaving him completely absent throughout the entirety of the current campaign.

Given the fragile nature of his ongoing recovery, Liverpool will proceed with great caution when it comes to his eventual return.

Jayden Danns

Jayden Danns

Injury: Hamstring
Return date: May 3 (vs. Man Utd)

Recurring hamstring problems have kept promising striker Jayden Danns sidelined for the bulk of this season, denying him the opportunity to step up in Isak's absence.

Danns made his comeback at Under-21 level in mid-March but lasted only 29 minutes before suffering yet another hamstring problem. While the injury is not thought to be overly serious, the timing—so close to his return—has led the club to adopt a highly cautious approach.

Should Slot wish to call upon the 20-year-old at senior level, he will likely need to wait until May, though there is a real possibility that Danns is shut down for the rest of the season to ensure he is fully fit ahead of the new campaign.
