Manchester City breathed new life into the title race with a commanding 3–0 victory over Crystal Palace at the Etihad on Wednesday, much to the heartbreak of Arsenal supporters worldwide. Had City failed to claim all three points, Arsenal would have needed just a single victory this weekend against already-relegated Burnley to clinch their first league title in more than twenty years.
City were never going to allow that to happen, however, even with a heavily rotated lineup that lacked the firepower of Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku, and Rayan Cherki. From the first whistle, they hunted like predators—composed, methodical, and ruthless. They pinned the Eagles deep in their own half, biding their time for the ideal opportunity to pounce.
That moment arrived in the 32nd minute, when Phil Foden flicked the ball back to Antoine Semenyo, who was positioned inside the box with his back to goal. The striker needed just one touch to spin and beat Palace's goalkeeper.
The hosts doubled their advantage eight minutes later through the wonderfully deceptive Omar Marmoush, who let the ball roll past him before unleashing a first-time right-footed effort through goalkeeper Dean Henderson's legs. City then put the contest to bed in the 84th minute, as Savinho carved through Palace's defensive line with a slick run before guiding a left-footed flick into the side netting.
The Cityzens now trail Arsenal by just two points at the top of the Premier League table, with both sides having only two matches remaining in the season.
One Thing We Can't Ignore

Arsenal still control their own destiny in the title race. Sitting two points clear of City at the summit of the Premier League with no games in hand, the Gunners simply need to win their final two fixtures against Burnley and Palace to secure the championship.
However, if Arsenal manage only a win and a draw while City take maximum points from their remaining two games against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, the two sides would be deadlocked on 83 points. The title would then be decided by goal difference, and if that remains equal, by goals scored.
City's hopes rest on either Burnley or Palace pulling off an upset against the Gunners, while they themselves win both remaining games. While Burnley seems an unlikely candidate, Palace could pose a genuine threat—particularly if Mikel Arteta chooses to rotate his squad ahead of the Champions League final just days later. Palace may also field a rotated side, however, given their own Conference League final follows shortly after their clash with Arsenal.
