Manchester City are riding a wave of momentum in the Premier League title race, and they could climb to the top of the table for the first time since the opening weeks of the campaign on Wednesday evening.
A 2–1 win over struggling league leaders Arsenal brought City to within three points of the Gunners, who had the opportunity to open up a 12-point gap over Pep Guardiola's side when Bournemouth traveled to north London two Saturdays ago.
While many have doubted whether this version of the Cityzens can go all the way, their impressive run of form over the last month echoes the title-winning squads of years gone by.
Not only can they leapfrog to the top of the standings here, but the title contenders can also seal Burnley's relegation to the Championship with a win.
Rodri's Groin Injury A Source of Concern

Rodri's groin problem was a late concern following Man City's vital win over Arsenal, with Guardiola admitting after the match that he "doesn't know" how long the midfielder will be sidelined.
The Spaniard's improved performances have been central to the Cityzens' outstanding run of results, and no chances are likely to be taken during the midweek fixture. Guardiola will be hoping to have Rodri fit for Saturday's FA Cup semifinal, along with upcoming league matches against Everton, Bournemouth, and Brentford.
Rúben Dias is expected to miss out once more with the ankle injury he picked up in training, while Joško Gvardiol has been absent for much of 2026 due to a broken leg. The Croatian defender will be aiming to return to full fitness ahead of the World Cup this summer.
The short turnaround from Sunday means Guardiola may look to make changes to his winning setup at Turf Moor.
Man City Predicted Lineup vs. Burnley (4-2-3-1)

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma—Donnarumma showed both his brilliance and his frailties last time out, with a stunning stop on the hour mark making up for his costly first-half error. He's unlikely to be overly tested in Lancashire.
RB: Matheus Nunes—Nunes has been quietly putting together a very solid season as City's preferred right back. His consistent displays may prompt the club to reassess their transfer targets this summer.
CB: Abdukodir Khusanov—John Stones returned to the bench at the weekend, but Guardiola looks set to stick with the pacey Uzbek, who continues to develop impressively in Manchester.
CB: Marc Guéhi—Guéhi has been a standout performer in sky blue since arriving in January, and his acquisition could be seen as one of the defining moments of City's campaign should they go on to lift the title.
LB: Rayan Aït-Nouri—Nico O'Reilly may be given a breather despite his importance to Guardiola's current system, having entered Sunday's match carrying a knock. Aït-Nouri is a more than capable replacement who will relish linking up with Rayan Cherki.
DM: Nico González—Rodri will not be rushed back, even if the injury proves minor. In his absence, González, who made his first Premier League outing since February at the weekend, will be looking to recapture his early-season form.
DM: Tijjani Reijnders—Bernardo Silva was superb at the weekend, and Guardiola will be reluctant to leave him out here. However, with more demanding fixtures approaching, the City manager may opt to rest his captain during the midweek clash.
RW: Savinho—Antoine Semenyo had a difficult outing at the weekend and could make way for Savinho, who has had limited Premier League involvement this season after coming close to joining Tottenham Hotspur last summer. The Brazilian is effective on either wing.
AM: Rayan Cherki—City's creative spark has been at the heart of their late-season charge, and he delivered once again on Sunday in the big match. Guardiola will find it difficult to leave him out during City's remaining league fixtures.
LW: Jérémy Doku—The Belgian could come up against a familiar face at Turf Moor, with former City full-back Kyle Walker potentially starting on the right side of Burnley's defense.
ST: Erling Haaland—Having battled hard against Gabriel and come out on top, Haaland should face far less physical attention on Wednesday night. The City forward has netted seven goals across four appearances against the Clarets.
