Man City Poised to Pull Off Last-Minute Goalkeeper Swap as Deadline Looms

Manchester City have reached an agreement to acquire goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain, as per recent reports, with Ederson's expected exit creating room for the Italian shot-stopper.

City have orchestrated a significant overhaul in their goalkeeping department this summer. Both Ederson and Stefan Ortega were placed on the transfer list as Pep Guardiola facilitated a reunion with James Trafford, who featured in the opening three Premier League matches following his £27 million ($36.5 million) transfer from Burnley.

While Galatasaray were pursuing Ederson's services, Fabrizio Romano indicates it is Turkish competitors Fenerbahçe who have secured the Brazil goalkeeper for approximately €13 million (£11.3 million, $15.2 million).

Even after bringing in Trafford, City have consistently expressed their intention to pursue Donnarumma should Ederson depart this summer, to such an extent that, per The Athletic, PSG approached Deadline Day "anticipating" the Italian's sale to City.

That assurance proved justified as Romano subsequently verified an agreement had been reached between City and PSG to bring Donnarumma to the Etihad Stadium.

Donnarumma was unexpectedly sidelined by PSG this summer upon entering his contract's final year. Extension discussions took place but his unwillingness to reduce his salary expectations led the European champions to swiftly decide his fate.

Lucas Chevalier was brought in from Lille as Donnarumma learned he was no longer required in Paris. The Italy international, just 26 years of age, said goodbye to supporters on the field after making 161 appearances for the club.

Donnarumma is scheduled to arrive in Manchester later today to finalize his contract before the transfer window closes.
