Manchester United have formally confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Colombian defensive midfielder Cristian Orozco, one of the most sought-after teenage talents in South American football.
Orozco's move to Old Trafford has been in the pipeline for nearly a year. United secured an agreement to bring Orozco on board last September, however, FIFA regulations prevented the young Colombian from relocating to England until he reached adulthood.
He continued to feature for Fortaleza FC in Colombia's top division throughout that period, before making the journey to England to link up with United following his 18th birthday on July 13. The Red Devils have now officially presented Orozco as their newest midfield recruit.
"Manchester United have completed the signing of exciting young midfielder Cristian Orozco," the club confirmed in an official statement.
Orozco will most likely feature predominantly for United's youth teams as he adjusts to his new surroundings, though he is undoubtedly a player with the potential to develop into a key asset in United's long-term plans.

There is no doubt that Orozco still has considerable ground to cover in his development, and expecting him to make an immediate impact at United would be unrealistic, particularly given that he only made his professional debut back in February. Nevertheless, there is good reason to think he could prove to be an exceptional piece of transfer business.
Orozco captained Colombia at the 2025 U-17 World Cup in Qatar and has worn the armband across multiple youth national team age groups. His leadership qualities have consistently impressed those who have worked with him, most notably coaches at Colombian development club Rojo, where Orozco played prior to joining Fortaleza.
Beyond his leadership abilities, Orozco is already demonstrating the hallmarks of a quality central midfielder. His distribution, aerial and physical presence in duels, and overall tactical awareness are particularly notable. He still needs to develop physically to handle the pace and demands of the Premier League and remains a raw prospect, but the ceiling is clearly high.
Even before his official unveiling as a Red Devil, Orozco had already made his United debut for the U-21 side, appearing in a 1-0 preseason friendly loss against Altrincham FC.
Last autumn, when United agreed terms to sign him, Orozco traveled to England to watch the Red Devils in action at Old Trafford. Following his brief visit, the teenager made no effort to conceal his eagerness to become part of the club.
"I visited the city and everything was very nice," Orozco told ESPN. "I was able to see the stadium, the team's training ground and honestly I'm fulfilling a childhood dream. It was very nice.

"My expectation from now on is to learn a lot of English," Orozco added. "I realized that it's very important and I want to arrive there, learn and adapt as quickly as possible. That's what's required to show my level there, what I can offer.
"I know that with my qualities I can be key, with the strength and technique I have. I'm very young and I need to adapt."
Orozco is reported to have signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils, becoming just the second Colombian player in history to join United, following in the footsteps of Radamel Falcao.
