Man United Eyes Chelsea Forward as Hojlund's Old Trafford Future Hangs in Balance

Inter Milan have abandoned their chase for Manchester United forward Rasmus Højlund, according to reports, dealing a setback to the Red Devils' efforts to revamp their attacking options.

United have already secured Matheus Cunha for an attacking midfield position, with similar intentions for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, but head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly still seeking a genuine striker following the disappointing performances of both Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee last campaign.

It appears United may be required to offload Højlund before acquiring a new striker, though the Danish player has openly expressed his commitment to remaining at the club, and potential departure routes seem to be narrowing as The Athletic reports Inter have withdrawn their interest.

Several Serie A teams have been connected with Højlund, but nothing substantial appears to be developing currently, restricting United's opportunities to secure a replacement.

Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku has been associated with United since the January window and continues to attract the Red Devils' attention, but he isn't the sole Chelsea attacker under consideration as Sky Sports News identifies Nicolas Jackson as a potential acquisition.

Nicolas Jackson

Jackson is no longer considered indispensable at Chelsea after the additions of Liam Delap and João Pedro. Bids for the Senegalese striker would be considered, though earlier reports suggested Chelsea might seek up to £100 million ($134.5 million) for his transfer. Realistically, the Blues' ultimate valuation is expected to be lower.

Premier League sides, including United and Aston Villa, are keeping tabs on Jackson, while The Athletic also mentions appreciation from Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, who attempted to recruit Jackson during his tenure at Bournemouth. However, a switch to Anfield seems extremely doubtful.

Currently, United are concentrating exclusively on finalizing a deal for Mbeumo. Interest in Jackson remains preliminary, with considerable groundwork required to settle Højlund's situation before any additional transfers can proceed.

Chelsea have shown appreciation for United winger Alejandro Garnacho, prompting natural speculation about a potential player exchange, but no formal discussions have taken place thus far.
