Man Utd Breaks Silence on Blockbuster Nicolas Jackson-Alejandro Garnacho Swap Deal

Manchester United reportedly have "zero interest" in a player exchange deal that would see Alejandro Garnacho traded for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson.

United's search for a striker has led to connections with Jackson, whose position as Chelsea's primary No. 9 has become uncertain following the summer acquisitions of Liam Delap and João Pedro.

Speculation has emerged about the possibility of Garnacho and Jackson switching clubs, with the Argentine winger potentially moving to Stamford Bridge. However, this scenario appears highly unlikely.

The Manchester Evening News indicates that while Chelsea continue to show interest in Garnacho, United have no desire for any agreement to become a player exchange that would bring Jackson to Old Trafford.

Jackson's limited tally of 13 goals in all competitions last season falls short of expectations for a striker approaching his prime years, while his poor disciplinary record, including multiple recent red cards, has frustrated Chelsea supporters.

United's striker search is focused on different targets. Earlier this week, the club reportedly narrowed their options to two candidates: Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Šeško. By Wednesday, that list had been reduced further to just Šeško as their sole priority target.

Developments regarding the RB Leipzig striker are believed to have intensified recently due to competition from Newcastle United, who may soon lose Alexander Isak and require their own new No. 9.

Watkins represents the more experienced choice, having demonstrated his quality in the Premier League across five campaigns with Aston Villa. The England striker also carries a slightly lower price tag, though only marginally, but is considerably older and would therefore offer a more temporary fix.

RB Leipzig are reportedly demanding over €75 million (£65.2 million, $88.2 million), while Villa value Watkins at £60 million ($79.3 million). Šeško, who netted 13 Bundesliga goals in 2024–25, is said to welcome United's approach, while Newcastle are reportedly pessimistic about their chances, believing the Slovenian will opt for Manchester.
