Man Utd Co-Owner in Secret Talks with Ruben Amorim as Managerial Hunt Intensifies

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly visited the club's Carrington training facility on Thursday for discussions with several key personnel, including head coach Ruben Amorim.

United chose to support Amorim significantly during the summer transfer period, investing more than £200 million ($271.4 million) to strengthen his attacking options with Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, yet the Red Devils have failed to remedy the poor performance that characterized the end of their 2024–25 season.

Following a third loss in five matches over the weekend, Amorim stated he has no intention of altering his controversial 3-4-2-1 system and cautioned United that they would need to dismiss him if they desire a different approach. Presently, there are no believed plans to separate from Amorim, who is reportedly entitled to a severance payment of £12 million should he leave within the first year of his agreement.

Thursday witnessed Ratcliffe's helicopter touching down at Carrington and, according to The Athletic, among the topics on his schedule was a discussion with Amorim regarding the team's difficulties.

It is emphasized that Ratcliffe's visit, including his discussion with Amorim, had been scheduled for quite some time and was not a direct response to United's most recent loss.

Ratcliffe and Amorim are believed to have addressed the team's performance and other challenges confronting the manager with an aim to navigate through the current on-field downturn.

Recent reports suggested that United's leadership had reservations about Amorim's behavior during games and media appearances, indicating his difficulties in managing his emotions have resulted in several avoidable high-profile controversies.

However, the overall sentiment in the locker room toward Amorim is believed to remain positive, although some players are reportedly becoming frustrated with the manager's unwillingness to consider an alternative tactical approach.
