Man Utd Dominate Every Premier League Rival in This Crucial Stat

Manchester United's biggest issue during their historically dismal 2024–25 campaign was a chronic lack of goals. While the backline was far from solid, the inability to find the net consistently at the attacking end left the team dangerously exposed.

Through 32 matches in 2025–26, the Red Devils have already netted 13 more Premier League goals than they managed across the entirety of last season—57 versus 44. That tally already matches their output from 2021–22 and 2023–24, and sits just one short of their 2022–23 total.

United look set to finish this campaign with more Premier League goals than any season since 2020–21 (73), when Ole Gunnar Solskjær guided the club to a runners-up finish—and the upturn in productivity stems from an encouraging source.

In the Premier League this season, only Manchester City (63) and Arsenal (62) have scored more than United. Nor can the improvement be attributed solely to Michael Carrick's arrival. The uptick was already visible under Ruben Amorim—United scored two or more goals in 10 of the 20 league games before the Portuguese manager was let go in January.

Attacking Improvement Driven by Recruitment and Depth

Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha

Central to this turnaround has been last summer's transfer activity. Matheus Cunha, signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers; Bryan Mbeumo, from Brentford; and Benjamin Šeško, from RB Leipzig, may not yet be delivering elite-level numbers, but their combined 35 goal contributions in their debut season is a meaningful addition—bolstered further by captain Bruno Fernandes's prolific assist rate and Casemiro's surprising eight-goal return, which included a powerful header in United's 2–1 defeat to Leeds on Monday.

Where United are surpassing all of their closest rivals is in the breadth of their scoring threat.

In the Premier League specifically, the Red Devils boast five players who have each scored seven or more goals this season—Mbeumo, Šeško, Casemiro, Fernandes, and Cunha. That lack of dependence on any single striker is a key asset when injuries can strike at any time.

In comparison, Erling Haaland accounts for 35% of Manchester City's entire Premier League goal tally, and Phil Foden is the only other City player to have reached seven goals. Chelsea have three players with seven or more Premier League goals, while Liverpool and Arsenal each have just one.
