Man Utd Enter Battle for Premier League Sensation as Summer Transfer War Heats Up
Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Nottingham Forest defender Murillo when the current season concludes, according to recent reports.
Although United's performances have shown improvement this term compared to last season, questions persist regarding the squad that interim manager Michael Carrick has taken charge of, and the Red Devils are anticipated to be busy in the upcoming summer transfer market once a permanent manager is appointed.
Central defense represents one area of concern, particularly with Harry Maguire nearing the expiration of his current deal. As United plan for a potential exit, the Daily Mail identifies Murillo as a possible successor.
Murillo is reportedly "high" on United's list of targets as they seek a new defender for the summer window and is believed to be willing to depart Forest, even though his contract runs until 2029.
United are certainly not alone in their interest in Murillo. Following his Premier League debut in summer 2023, his outstanding displays have generated speculation linking him with clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool.

During an appearance on the Benja Me Mucho podcast previously, Murillo admitted he has always intended to utilize Forest as a platform for a larger transfer.
"I harbored the ambition of competing in the Premier League, and I held that vision," he revealed. "I considered, 'I'll join Nottingham Forest, perform well for a season, and then move to a major club.'
"That was my mindset. I'd select Manchester City, though it would be more challenging for me to secure regular playing time considering the talent in their roster.
"There's City, Arsenal too, who are competing for the Premier League championship. I wouldn't rule out Liverpool either. It would present an excellent chance for me to demonstrate my abilities at an elite club."
Expiring Contracts to Force Big Decisions for Man Utd
Contract Situations Will Demand Major Choices for Man Utd

United enter 2026 with four squad members facing the concluding six months of their current agreements.
In addition to Maguire, a choice must also be reached regarding the future of defensive midfielder Casemiro, who emerged as one of Ruben Amorim's most reliable players following an underwhelming beginning under the Portuguese coach.
United possess a 12-month clause to prolong Casemiro's agreement but are hesitant to activate it due to his substantial salary. The Brazilian represents the club's highest-paid player and discussions regarding a fresh contract with reduced compensation are anticipated in the upcoming months.
Left-back Tyrell Malacia and backup goalkeeper Tom Heaton are similarly approaching the end of their current terms.
