Eddie Howe, Newcastle United's manager, has strongly criticized media speculation connecting midfielder Bruno Guimarães to Manchester United during the upcoming transfer window, calling such reports "ridiculous" and "insulting."
Latest media claims have suggested that Guimarães is engaged in serious negotiations regarding a high-profile move to United, with outgoing midfielder Casemiro allegedly playing a role in recruiting his potential replacement.
"I'm at a loss for words on how to address this," Howe expressed angrily. "I shouldn't even dignify it with a response as it's simply draining my time.
"I won't be rude since this isn't the appropriate setting for that. In my view, it's complete fabrication.
"Bruno serves as our skipper and remains completely dedicated. He's currently sidelined with injury, concentrating solely on his recovery.
"For me, this isn't the moment to entertain such speculation. During summer, these rumors become somewhat more understandable since the transfer market is active. Claiming our captain is negotiating with another team shows complete disrespect to Bruno above all. He remains entirely devoted to this club."
Man Utd's Midfield Alternatives
With Casemiro set to leave without a transfer fee, United must make significant midfield investments this summer.
The Brazilian's exit might align with Manuel Ugarte's potential departure, possibly leaving only Kobbie Mainoo as the sole natural central midfielder while the young player approaches agreement on a contract extension.
Having increased their spending capacity, United can now target high-profile acquisitions. While Guimarães ranks high on their priority list, he's certainly not their sole consideration. He's not even the only Newcastle player catching the Red Devils' attention.
