Man Utd Firmly Reject Kobbie Mainoo Loan Bid as Amorim Declares Star 'Staying Put'

Manchester United have reportedly turned down Kobbie Mainoo's appeal to depart the club via a loan arrangement before the current transfer window concludes.
Mainoo has struggled to secure regular playing time during the opening stages of the campaign, remaining on the bench without being utilized in Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Fulham. Manager Ruben Amorim has instead opted for a central midfield combination of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, with Mainoo's sole appearance in 2025–26 occurring during Wednesday's surprising Carabao Cup elimination by Grimsby Town.

However, after requesting permission for a loan move, BBC Sport confirmed that Manchester United declined the proposal. The club's position remains that they desire Mainoo to remain and compete for his position within the squad.

During Friday's media briefing, Amorim emphasized this stance to journalists.
"My preference is for Kobbie to remain," the United manager stated. "He must compete for his spot, and we require Kobbie's services, so this position won't alter. I recognize that players currently not featuring are frustrated. All individuals will receive equal chances to participate. Competition during training sessions is essential."
