Man Utd Green-Light Hojlund Deal as Star Striker Weighs His Options

Manchester United have reportedly accepted an offer for forward Rasmus Højlund from AC Milan, with the Italian club now attempting to persuade the Danish striker to leave Old Trafford during this summer's transfer window.
Højlund has publicly expressed his commitment to staying at United beyond the current transfer period on multiple occasions this summer, but uncertainty surrounding his future emerged on Thursday following reports that the Red Devils have agreed to acquire RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Šeško in a deal valued at €85 million (£73.8 million, $99.1 million).
With Šeško anticipated to lead United's offensive line alongside other new acquisitions Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, speculation has arisen regarding Højlund's role, prompting interest from several European clubs.
Milan are among the interested parties and, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A club has already secured an agreement with United for a loan arrangement involving Højlund, which would include an option for a permanent move next summer.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the potential permanent transfer fee at approximately €35 million (£30.4 million, $40.8 million).

Importantly, Højlund has yet to approve the transfer, with Milan representatives currently working to persuade him to depart Old Trafford this month.
The 22-year-old remains contracted to United through 2028, with an option for an additional year. Although there's no immediate pressure regarding his situation, Højlund must determine if he's willing to accept a secondary role just two years after his £72 million ($96.7 million) transfer from Atalanta.
Højlund has scored 26 goals in 95 total appearances for United, including 14 Premier League goals. However, following 10 goals in his first season, the Danish striker managed only four in 2024–25, while teammate Joshua Zirkzee added three goals of his own.
Strengthening the attacking options has been a key objective for manager Ruben Amorim this summer and, with Šeško in Manchester to complete his transfer to Old Trafford, attention can now shift to other areas.
