Man Utd Icon Unleashes Brutal Attack on Marcus Rashford's Performance
Ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes delivered a scathing assessment of Marcus Rashford's conduct, describing the homegrown talent as "a disgrace."
Rashford remains officially registered as a Manchester United player, despite currently being on loan at Barcelona for the 2025–26 campaign and consistently expressing his wish to make the move to the Catalan club permanent.
The lifelong United supporter hasn't featured for the Red Devils since December 2024. Manager Ruben Amorim excluded Rashford from the first-team squad after raising concerns about his training commitment, and Scholes has expressed equally harsh criticism of his conduct away from the pitch.
"There's no questioning the ability that young man possesses, it's extraordinary, he's delivered in crucial matches, and that second strike was superb," Scholes commented on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast following Rashford's impressive double against Newcastle United in Barcelona's recent Champions League victory.
"I genuinely found it difficult to celebrate for him, to feel joy for his success," Scholes quickly continued.
"Primarily due to his conduct, his behavior at United. The manner of his departure, I considered it absolutely disgraceful at United, showing no effort, essentially. Listen, if you had disagreements with a coach, that's understandable, but don't forget, you have fellow players you're competing alongside.

"You have a huge 80,000 supporters there [at Old Trafford], or whatever the number is, every single match day that you need to show some commitment for. The countless occasions I witnessed him at United strolling around because he wanted to depart, I found his entire attitude disgraceful.
"I believe he essentially gave up on Manchester United. And when you give up once, you'll do it again."
Rashford has encountered behavioral challenges during his short stint at Barcelona. Shortly after receiving widespread acclaim for his Champions League performance, the England forward was benched for the team's La Liga match against Getafe as punishment for arriving late.
Sources indicate that Rashford was merely two minutes behind schedule and Hansi Flick quickly introduced him as a substitute at the interval, after which he assisted Barcelona's third and decisive goal in a convincing victory. Scholes remained thoroughly unimpressed.
"He won't get away with such behavior for much longer at Barça. There's absolutely no possibility. How do you oversleep in this era? Your mobile device, f------ alarm clock, whatever. How do you oversleep?
"He certainly possesses the ability to be [among the world's elite players]. But he'll never possess the right mindset."
